Claire Kenyon, 16, of Layton, injured in crash has died.
The others involved in the crash included Abraham W. Taylor, age 31, from W. Jordan, Zackary Colton, age 16, from Provo, Michele Kenyon, age 48, from Layton, and Aubrey Bardsley, age 28, from Sandy.
Cpl. Todd Johnson with the Utah Highway Patrol told ABC 4 Utah it started with some road debris. A ramp that had apparently fallen off a vehicle was left in the roadway. Drivers were swerving around that ramp and when one attempted to slow down, it caused a three car accident.
Those cars pulled off to the side of the road when another vehicle, a black Range Rover, hit the ramp and flew into the air. The SUV slammed into the three vehicles critically injuring the 16-year-old girl and hurting two other young men.
The teenage boys were taken to Primary Children’s the 16-year-old girl was flown to the University of Utah hospital. She was listed in extremely critical condition.
Utah Highway Patrol was on scene when the accident happened, trying to clear up the three car accident, when the SUV flew out of control into the three vehicles.
UHP is still investigating. It’s unclear whether the driver who lost the ramp on the highway will be facing any charges.
