Police release 911 call from husband charged with murdering wife

OREM Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - Conrad Truman made his first appearance in a Utah courtroom Monday. But it was his chilling 911 call last September where the murder case against him began.
OREM Utah (ABC 4 Utah) – Police have released the 911 call from a man accused of murdering his wife.
Last September, Conrad Truman called 911 to report that his wife had been murdered.
But from the very beginning Orem police suspected something wasn't quite right when they came to their home at 220 South and 1180 West.

“I really didn't know what happened,” Truman could be heard as he talked to the dispatcher. “I swear to God.”

Police found his wife lying in the kitchen naked. She had been shot in the head.

“She was in the shower and she came out of the shower and I heard a pop and there's blood and it's her blood,” Truman told the dispatcher.

For several minutes, the dispatcher had a difficult time with Truman because he was hysterical and hard to understand.

Dispatcher: "She has a gunshot wound to her head is that correct?"
Inaudible.
Dispatcher: “Who is this? Who am I speaking to? Hello? Hello?”
"My name is Conrad. She's choking.
Dispatcher: "She's choking? Okay. Does she have a gunshot wound?
(Inaudible).

Truman could be heard moving from room to room and out of the range of the dispatcher who remained on the phone.

Dispatch: “Where is she bleeding?”
Conrad : “Out of her mouth, out of her head."
Dispatcher: "I have an officer outside trying to find you. Can you go out and find him?”
(Screaming)
Dispatcher: "Yeah, that's the officer. Hello?"
(Inaudible.)

According to police, Truman threatened officers and the dispatcher at the scene.

And it was during their initial response to the house that police claimed Truman changed his story from a drive by shooting to his wife committing suicide.

Police say it was a life insurance policy taken out on the wife. If she were to die, Conrad Truman was to receive more than $800,000.
