A couple found him riding his bike along southbound I-215 at 3500 South and drove him to the 7-Eleven at 3500 South and Redwood Road where they introduced the boy to a police officer.
The boy could not give police his last name or his home address. He was taken into state custody and dropped off at the Christmas Box House in Salt Lake City where he stayed Friday and Saturday night. The home is a comfortable place for children in state custody to stay.
The Salt Lake City mother was searching for her son Friday night and reported him missing to police Saturday.
A store owner recognized the boy in a news report delivered Saturday after this mother came into his business with a picture of the missing boy.
The business owner contacted the mother and she was then put in contact with police.
Sgt. Trudy Cropper of the West Valley Police Department reports the boy will be reunited with his mother after DCFS has time to investigate why he was missing from his mother for 21 hours.
