LINDON, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - Residents and visitors of Lindon are under an immediate boil order for all drinking water due to a positive test for E. coli bacteria in the city’s water system according to a news release from the Lindon City Police Department.

E. coli bacteria were found in the water supply Friday. This type of bacteria can make you sick and is a concern for people with weakened immune systems.

Bacterial contamination can occur when increased run-off enters the drinking water source. It can also happen when a pipe breaks or there is a failure in the water treatment process.

Lindon is disinfecting and flushing the water system. The city has plans to inform the public when the tests show no bacteria and residents no longer need to boil their drinking water.
