Hacker responsible for bringing down the SLCPD website gets prison time

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - John Borell, 22, pled guilty to hacking websites in Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, and New York.
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - John Borell, 22, pled guilty to hacking websites in Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, and New York.

The self-proclaimed "hactivist" boasted about his abilities online after breaking into the "Utah Chiefs of Police Association" and "the salt lake city police department" websites back in January 2012.

The FBI eventually tracked him down in Ohio.

An Ohio court sentenced Borrell to three years in prison Thursday.
