SANDY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - If you're looking for a job, Sandy is a good place to start.

General Dynamics Information Technology is opening a call center facility there and plans to hire as many as 1,600 people. As you can imagine, that many jobs will have a huge impact not only on sandy, but on the entire state.

“Part of our plan as a city offer job opportunities give residents a chance to live, work, and play here,” said Sandy Mayor Tom Dolan.

"The workforce they've already attracted for these jobs is phenomenal. Very very excited. One of the reasons they chose Utah to expand,” said Spencer Eccles, Executive Director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development.

General Dynamics executives hope to have all the new employees in place by October 1.
