Zagg is a Utah company taking the world’s love of technology to create jobs and really cool products.
Derek Smith from Zagg told ABC 4 about the company’s evolution. It was pretty simple, “We started in Utah, in a back yard shed and has become a powerhouse in the consumer electronics industry."
You have probably seen the kiosks in the mall; the invisible shield promising protection from nearly anything.
The company started small and it didn’t take too long for the idea to explode.
They started online selling about $200 worth of product a day. They got picked up globally and it just exploded.
Smith said, “After we got picked up globally the next day we sold 10 thousand following and the following day it was 15 thousand."
Zagg has now sold 30 million invisible shields in 6 years, 15 million this year alone. All of them made right here in the US.
But the company is more than the shields, they have taken the past few years to tackle ear buds, keyboards and device covers.
What’s next? water proofing.
It won’t be out for a while and the company is being very quiet on how they are tackling this feat.
Zagg credits their success to Utah and the state’s brilliant minds.
Smith said, “It all starts with great ideas. We have very talented people who work together, brainstorm and come up with a new product and launch it here in Utah."
Another local success using the best of Utah to change the gadget world.
