West Jordan, UT (ABC4 News) - The City of West Jordan is excited to welcome back Utah's second annual Youth Pioneer Pageant on July 22-24.

This year's pageant is part of an even bigger event, Utah Pioneer Days, which includes an authentic Pioneer Jubilee in the park, fireworks, and the spectacular theatrical Youth Pioneer Pageant!

Four Utahns who are "pioneers of Utah's legacy" will be honored during the Youth Pioneer Pageant including former news anchor Dick Nourse, former U.S. Senator Jake Garn, and Virl and Tom Osmond.

New this year is an authentic Pioneer Jubilee, which takes place in Veterans Memorial Park July 23-24. Vendors include antique, western-themed and handmade crafts. Period interpreters walk the streets, posing for photos or saying howdy. There will be a large variety of activities for young 'uns, traveling the frontier in potato-sack races, riding ponies, feeding and petting livestock, and chasing greased pigs for fun prizes and awards. Pie eating contests, Dutch oven cook-offs, live music and dancing, along with a variety of bluegrass acts will also be on stage throughout the day.

Proceeds from this charity-based event go toward the Olive Osmond Hearing Fund where many deaf children will receive the gift of hearing. Last year, the Youth Pioneer Pageant raised more than $75,000 to help local children hear life's precious sounds. The OOHF was established in 2010 by Merrill's son, Justin. Since its inception, the foundation has helped more than 2,300 children with hearing loss.

Youth Pioneer Pageant Monday, July 22; Tuesday, July 23; and Wednesday, July 24 at 8:30 p.m. (Doors open at 7 p.m.) West Jordan Arena, 8035 S. 2200 West. Tickets are on sale and range in price from $6-$15.
