Draper, UT (ABC4 News) - The best All-Star Cheer teams from across the world gathered at the ESPN Center in Orlando, Florida this past weekend to compete in the World Championships of Cheer.

Teams competed in several divisions and categories with the goal of bringing home the title of world champion. Teams earned the right to compete in this exclusive event by competing in national competitions around the country where the most elite teams were extended offers to gather in Orlando and vie for the title of world champion.

Utah's own Mac's All-Star Cheer had two teams that earned invitations to compete at the World Championships with Senior Starz, its small senior co-ed team, earning a $25,000 paid invitation that is only extended to the best of the best in the world.

The small senior co-ed division is one of the most competitive divisions in the championship and this division began its three-day competition on Saturday starting with a field of 89 teams. After Saturday's competition the field was paired down to just 39 teams with Macs Senior Starz being among the semi-finalists. After a nearly perfect routine on Saturday, Macs Senior Starz was in 4th place as the field was once again cut back to the 10 best teams in the world.

Monday's finals brought together some of the biggest names in All-Star Cheer including California All-Stars and Brandon All-Stars both of which have won multiple world championships. Following a series of very impressive routines Utah's own Mac Senior Starz earned the bronze medal finishing behind gold medalists California All-Stars and just 1.17 points behind the silver medalists Rock Star Cheer from South Carolina.

"Finishing on the podium at the world championships represents the culmination of a lot of years of hard work by our Senior Starz athletes", said Mack Hirshberg co-owner of Mac's All-Star Cheer.

ESPN will broadcast the world championships of cheer on May 19th (ESPNU), May 21st & 26th (ESPN2).
