Salt Lake City, UT (ABC4 News) - Wishing you had a photo of yourself with "Utah's Ugliest Dog?" Curious about the rumors that pit bulls are fantastic kissers?

Then don't miss the K-9 Karnival, Saturday, April 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Central City Recreation Center, 615 S. 300 E. The event will be hosted by Have Pittie: Pit Bull Rescue of Utah, the Humane Society of Utah and Therapy Animals of Utah. Well behaved, leashed, kid-and dog-friendly dogs are welcome at the event.

The goal of this fun, free event is to raise money to help get more shelter pit bulls adopted and to provide support to keep them in their forever homes. Have Pittie also strives to prevent pit bulls from entering shelters in the first place, and also works to change people's perceptions of them.

There will be carnival games, a kissing booth featuring Stevie the Wonder Dog, a blind, certified therapy pit bull and pictures with Creature, recognized as "Utah's Ugliest Dog."

There also will be a reggae band, vegetarian food for purchase, an "ask a trainer" booth and a chance to win valuable prizes, including a new Dell laptop. A silent auction will offer a variety of great items for bid, including a "hot" date with a Park City firefighter.

Certified therapy pit bulls Kandie, Rowdy, Stevie and Tracy, of Therapy Animals of Utah, will be on hand to meet-and-greet, and interested pet parents can find out how to get their own dogs certified as therapy pets.

The free kids' craft corner will offer entertainment for the little ones with games, prizes and fun art projects.

Best Friends Animal Society will be on hand with information about free or low-cost spay/neuter programs, including a special price for pit bull spay/neuter for only $10.

For those in the market for a new furry friend, plenty of dogs will be onsite and available for adoption as well. This event promises to be exciting, educational and fabulous fun for the whole family.
