The single mom's second turn on ABC's "Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" series has ended in a broken engagement.
After weeks of rumors, Maynard and Jef Holm confirmed their split to People.com on Tuesday. Maynard described it as "a very difficult and heartbreaking decision."
Maynard competed on the 15th season of "The Bachelor" where she accepted Brad Womack's proposal in the season finale. They, too, broke up a few months later.
Tuesday night, news broke that Emily Maynard and Jef Holm from "The Bachelorette" have indeed broken up. The two had started off strong after the finale aired in July, and there had been murmurs they were planning a spring wedding. Now, however, things have taken a turn in a very different direction. What did Emily Maynard have to say about the split in her statement shared by People on Oct. 16?
The Emily and Jef split comes as heartbreaking news to fans, and some have wondered where things went wrong. Maynard doesn't get into specifics in her statement, but she says, "I am sorry to tell you that Jef and I have, indeed, parted ways." She says that deciding to split was heartbreaking and difficult and she notes that she has no regrets about deciding to do "The Bachelorette."
Maynard wants fans to know that "we tried our best because the love between us was so real." She says that she has "nothing but respect and love for Jef and his family," but she says, "ultimately we are just at different points in our lives." Emily says that she's "excited and hopeful for the next chapter in my life with my daughter, Ricki."
Jef Holm also spoke with People, and it sounds like he still has a lot of love in his heart for Emily Maynard. Fans are disappointed, to say the least, that this "The Bachelorette" engagement fell apart in such a relatively short time. The final rose ceremony was taped in May and aired in July, and at least for the first month or so the two seemed blissfully in love. Looking back many fans feel they can see things that weren't adding up to the fairytale they thought they were given, but an actual split came as a shock to just about everybody.
What do you think of what Emily and Jef had to say about their "Bachelorette" break-up? Were you expecting them to split, or were you hopeful there would be a walk down the aisle? Both Emily Maynard and Jef Holm have enormous fan bases, so it seems likely both will receive a lot of support in whatever they decide to do next in their respective worlds.
