Five years later, they're still going.... stretching, soaking, sinking, dissolving, microwaving, baking, freezing and smashing every kind of candy they can find.
Monday on GTU, Loralee showed us several Valentine's candy experiments:
- Conversation hearts bobbing up and down in soda water (they collect air bubbles and float to the top, but if the air bubbles get knocked off they sink again)
- Warhead candy in baking soda water (when you drop them in, the sour acid in the candy reacts with the baking soda to create bubbles)
- Sinking and floating candy bars (use either 3 Musketeers and Snickers or Marshmallow hearts vs. caramel hearts). You drop the candy bars in water, the marshmallow filled one floats, and you break it open to show the air bubbles.)
- Floating Letters, in which the m's float off of dissolving M&M's. It's always a bit of a surprise!
