Dan Forsman won the event, picking up his 3rd win on the senior circut. Jay Don Blake took 2nd, 2 shots behind. For Utah golf fans, like me, it was awesome. Utah residents finishing 1-2 in a Tour event.
So after I got to work today, I did some research. I went through my PGA Tour media guide, and also contacted Laury Livsey in the PGA Tour media department. He's a Utah native who works for the Tour now in Florida, and is a great guy, along with being very knowledgable and having time on his hands like I do. We couldn't think of another time 2 Utah goflers finished 1-2 in a Tour-sanctioned event. The closest we could think of came in 1991 in San Diego, where, ironically, Jay Don took first and Forsman came in 3rd.
I went back even further in record book, and found out that in 2 of Johnny Miller's wins in 1974, golfers with Utah ties tied for 2nd. Billy Casper in the Kaiser and Buddy Allin in the Tournament of Champions. But they weren't Utah residents at the time. So unless some one can prove me wrong, I'm saying this is the first time 2 Utah residents finished first and second in a Tour event.
Way to go, guys!
