We all know the price of gas is pretty high right now in spite of reports that gas prices are actually going down in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. Apparently that memo hasn’t been sent to Utah because I’ve seen little to no movement in the gas prices.
So yesterday we pull in to a 7-11 to put gas in our Tahoe. Granted, the Tahoe isn’t the most fuel efficient vehicle out there but it serves our family well. It’s a big tank and to fill it up is at least 70 bucks on a good day. Yesterday I’m pumping away when suddenly the flow of gas into the Tahoe tapers to a trickle and then just plain stops at $75. I didn’t know what was happening. I’d swiped my credit card to pay for the gas and my tank still had some room left so I didn’t know what to do.
Well, apparently $75 is the maximum you can purchase at a time at this particular gas station. (And so begins the rant) Either we need to get the gas prices down or we need to adjust the pumps to allow for a fill up for larger SUVs. I swiped my credit card so why can’t I get as much gas as I want? I guess I could swipe the card again and finish the fill up but the real question is why should I have to? What's so magic about $75 that it becomes the stopping point for gasoline? These are just a few of the questions I asked to finish my rant as my wife sat rolling her eyes.
Yes I know many face far more significant situations each day. I never said my issues were important I just said they never really make sense to me. Thanks for reading and don’t forget to follow me on Twitter and Facebook.
